A Sunset Walk Down At Seaburn Beach

Updated: Feb 18, 2021

I was feeling quite stressed out this evening as I am slightly overwhelmed by the amount of work that I needed to get through today. I had a pretty bad headache, which is very rare for me, so I decided the best thing for me to do was to get out of my flat for an hour to just relax. I haven't visited the northern end of Seaburn Beach in quite a while, so I thought this would be the perfect place to visit.

The beach was a lot busier than what I was expecting, but it was a beautiful evening with pale blue skies and pink fluffy clouds. It was lovely just to be able to see a different view, rather than being at my laptop. I love hearing the waves gently crashing against the rocks as the tide moves in and out. There were a couple of surfers in the sea and they were fascinating to watch. I didn't want to make it too obvious I was taking photographs of them, as they seemed very aware of their surroundings, so I only captured them in the corner of the photograph I took.

Further up the beach was this huge branch, which is displayed below. I thought the reflection of it in the water, combined with the gorgeous colours in the sky would make the perfect photograph. I had forgotten to pick my camera up on the way out, so I used my phone to capture these images. So that the photos had a similar effect to my camera, I put my phone as close to the ground as I could to reduce distortion. I used the Samsung Galaxy S10+ and changed the crop to 3:4 so the photos didn't end up stretched out. I did some light editing on my phone just to bring out the highlights and shadows a bit more so all of the detail is visible. I will remember to bring my camera next time as I don't get the same joy and excitement when using my phone. I feel as though my Canon 6D MK II can do so much more than my phone and the quality is so much better on my camera too.

I felt way more relaxed and calm once I got back to my flat, and my headache had eased. I would definitely recommend a trip to Seaburn Beach if you are feeling down or need to take your mind off something. I think the beach will always be my go-to place when I need a break and feeling stressed, I couldn't imaging living far away from the coast. Leave a comment below saying which is your favourite beach to visit, maybe you'll give me some inspiration of where to go next.
