Today I decided that I would visit Seaburn Beach again to see if I could capture a better composition of the lighthouse than what I did last time. When I left my flat the weather was quite warm as I swept the snow off of my car, but the weather completely changed as soon as I made it to the beach. The wind picked up and the snow quickly swept across the beach, where I had to find cover until it calmed down. Below is a video that I captured of the waves that were hitting up against the railings. I was sat in a dry patch so I thought I was safe from the water, but just moments after I got soaked!
Eventually, the clouds lifted and the storm settled so I was able to come out from under the bus shelter and photograph the lighthouse before i headed back to my flat to warm up. I experimented with using the pool of water to reflect the lighthouse and the bench, but the wind had picked up so the ripples in the water have blurred the reflections. Even though the weather wasn't great, it was still nice to get out for some fresh air and watch the waves crash against the wall.
This is wonderful. I left Sunderland over 40 years ago. I came across this blog by accident and it has reminded me of very fond childhood memories of Seaburn, Roker, Barnes Park and visiting St Peter's church before I left Sunderland at the age of fifteen.
